Sounds like a fancy way of saying 'physically erase from disk rather than just delete the file indexes'. Also completely irrelevant if using an SSD.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_force_microscope <- basically describes how the read/write heads on a magnetic hard drive work.

I was running a virus scan, and my anti-virus found a (possible) virus, as usual I go to remove it, but when I go to remove it asks if I want to remove by deleting the virus or removing the "magnetic force microscopy"

Google didn't help too much. So I just chose to use "magnetic force microscopy" too see what it did, and it removed it so I assume it worked :?


What the Hell is "magnetic force microscopy"?
