If you're going to invest in hardware so you can play larger games of C&C:Renegade your priorities are out of wack.

I added 4 gigs of memory to my asus p4p800 and overclocked the processor (P4.280Ghz) 800Mhz fsb. Video card is a Tul corp. Radion 9200 SE. the lag seems to be generating at the network I'm on.
The memory addition seemed to resolve most of my lag issues until recently. Perhaps I need to defrag the hard drives (7200 rpm).

http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php <- download and install this.

Load the program (this could take a while as it sacns your hardware).

Click on the Mainboard icon on the left (their word for motherboard, might be an American term for it...), and then when it loads up click on the name of the motherboard on the right, as shown in this screenshot.

Then copy-paste the text that comes up below that (under information) or take a screenshot of it with the Slots Information category visible and post it here.

You need to scroll down a bit, the Slots Information part I wanted to see is off the bottom of the window!

Anyway, based on the chipset your motherboard has (Intel i845G) your machine should have a 4x AGP slot which you can use for a graphics card, which is far superior to any PCI graphics card (but not as good as PCIe). Looking further down that information screen should confirm that.
