I'm looking for a good RAID controller, I'm looking to use RAID 1, or RAID 6. It depends on the number of drives I decide to get. I have never bought a RAID controller in my life, so I'm looking for some opinions...
My price range in preferably under $50.

Getting one which properly supports RAID 6 can be expensive, RAID 0 and 1 are much easier to find

Re: RAID Controller
I'm going to go with the RAID6 option, I was well aware of the pricing for RAID6.
I just like having backups that uses block-level striping, Over RAID5

Re: RAID Controller
If your doing it purely for the redundancy you can probably get away with a software or motherboard integrated solution. If your doing it for the performance then a dedicated high performance RAID controller is a must, but I don't think you will be able to get anything decent which supports RAID6 on that budget.

That is exactly what I was thinking.
