Building Windows 8
For those of you interested in following the development of Windows 8 the team have created a new blog for exactly this purpose. Nothing much on there yet besides an intro but, if it's anything like the E7 blog (Engineering Windows 7) then it's bound to be full of (what I consider) interesting information about the new OS.
Read the B8 blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/b/b8/
Of note so far is the mention of an App Store team, confirming the worst kept secret on the internet.... Windows 8 will include some form of applications store. If they can build on the existing Microsoft Update platform to install and update other applications, as it already can with Security Essentials, this might turn into quite a useful feature... not sure exactly what they are going to offer for general users though, not everyone wants Visual Studio etc... I assume it will include at least some third party software.
I wonder if freelance software developers can put their software on there too... that would be very interesting for me and, perhaps, TGN as a whole if we were to produce TGN branded Windows 8 compatible software for gamers...

Re: Building Windows 8
Two new items posted, covering USB 3.0 support and improvements to file management
EDIT;
A web browser download manager style interface for Windows Explorer copy / move operations? Looks good to me
Annoying having millions of little copy windows open and the ability to pause and resume will be useful!

And... graphs for the sake of graphs! Joy of joys
"Your images may only be up to 600 pixels high." is annoying as hell....

Nice.
I'm still on XP (hate Vista), but about to install Win7. Pretty excited about that.

If 8 is anything like 7 then I will love it and will have it whenever it is out and stable.

Screenshot of it;

Not sure if I am keen on the new Windows Explorer... seems rather cluttered with that ribbon, I will probably end up hiding it...

My cousin does some dev work for microsoft & will be able to get ahold of a few copies when it gets down the line a bit more. From the sound of it there will be some conflicts with "High End Gaming" machines thats what he has told me so far.
