Graphics Card Upgrade
I have had my eye on this card for my upgrade.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814161372
Its a 2GB, DDR5, and has Eyefinity. It will support up to 5 monitors which is just insane. For the price this is a hell of a card.

Re: Graphics Card Upgrade
Indeed, I haven't had an Intel CPU since my old Pentium 4 HT nearly 10 years ago... but since this topic is about graphics cards I assumed it was implicit any opinions mentioned were specific to graphics cards and not other components. Besides, I still consider the graphics card side of the business to still be ATI, despite being under a new name, hence why I referred to them as ATI/AMD and not AMD.BaDFiShy wrote:Notice I said Videocards , I love AMD Processors and dont think Intels are worth all that dam money.
Re: Graphics Card Upgrade
AMDs used to have a lead, but nowadays they're nothing spectacular. I used to be an AMD fan myself. Now I could go either way, really.
But back on topic ..... I've always had issues with ATI cards as well. And my Nvidias have always been dependable (GeForce). My GeForce 4 MX lasted me years.

Re: Graphics Card Upgrade
Strange, Ive never had issues with ATI cards, always had issues with Nvidia =/
I suppose what it really boils down to, is, which way would you like to go?
Playability? Id recommend Nvidia.
Want a workhorse card, thatll play your games reasonably, and do your 3d rendering? Go with a higher end Radeon.
There is also some speculation as to whether or not the cross-communication with Intel CPU's and Radeon cards or vis-versa is still an issue. But, I have no idea, Ive never crossed cards with CPU's. If its intel I go Nvidia, if its AMD, I go ATI.
Anywhoo, regardless of what you choose, the things to look for, are the bit, you dun want a 128... The cache, Id recommend 2gb or higher. (This will save your RAM from being used in order to compensate). How many video streams (Most are 400 on the low end) And the clock rate, (you dont want a crappy clock rate, which would be 500, you'll want 775+)
However, keep in mind, the more powerful the card, the more wattage itll take, and the warmer it will run, be sure to have adequate power, and cooling for the higher end production cards.

Indeed, I run an AMD processor and an NVIDIA GPU and it works perfectly well. I also have an NVIDIA chipset, not sure how much that helps, if at all.

Re: Graphics Card Upgrade
I am the same as Darkdarr. I run an I7 920 Intel and a 4890HD Ati Radeon card and never have any issues at all. Actually this card was the easiest card to install and run I have ever had. Very dependable as well.darkdarr wrote:and im the opposite i have a intel and i run an ATI RADEONBaDFiShy wrote:I run AMD chip with Nvidia cards .
