i agree with most of what's been said... just be VERY careful to not get stuck in the "friend trap" trust me.. it'll go nowhere and she'll be impossible to develop the dating kind of relationship with her except for EXTREMELY rare cirumstances... there's a definite point in the "talking" stage wherein you have to have the balls to move things in the direction you want them to go... or else you'll forever remain "just a friend"

in other news... my most valuable piece of advice (take it as you will): Under no circumstances should you ever, EVER, become her b*tch... make sure that whether she realizes it or not the relationship stays under your control... and for god sakes don't wait by the phone... you answer when you feel like answering (which should never be on time)

Women always f*ck me up.. so I dont generally give advice on it.
(I am just biding my time, thats all... so really its my own fault)

However... get to know her a bit more. Talk a lot to her friends (this is critical) and she will then feel cool talking to you. If all her friends think you are weird (because they dont know how cool a guy you are) then she WILL NOT be interested.
Other than that, your good to go. Dont act differently than you really are.

I once got that line from a guy "I want to get to know you better first."
Then I found out that he was sugar-coating that he wasn't interested. In other words, his buddy told me that he said I was "psycho." haha

And if you ask one of her friends what the girl thinks, do NOT ask one her friends that may have a crush on you! When I asked this guy's best buddy...the buddy told me that the guy was totally not interested. I later found out that was a lie...and this buddy was just cockblocking.

ANYWAY...be yourself...find out out what her interests are and hang out with her for a little while. Take it slow. If she's into baseball, take her to a game...if there's a new movie coming out that she wants to see...offer to accompany her as a friend. Etc.
Just go with the flow!

Don't be pissed. That's the first step. It won't help your cause to go crazy on her and show her your negative attributes of anger, obsession, and jealousy.

The second step is to talk to her calmly and find out if she's even slightly interested in you. If she seems like she's willing to be a friend ... but not a girlfriend ... yet she's flirtive, then obviously the relationship she's in is not very strong. Should you still pursue her even though you know she's in a relationship? Very tricky question that is. I'd say that if she doesn't welcome your advances then just give up for now; out of respect for her boyfriend. If she's still flirtive with you, then just keep doing what you've been doing and ignore the fact that she has a boyfriend.

In either case, the situation has got more delicate so you need to be careful otherwise you can scare her off for good -- or worse: get her boyfriend after you
