You need to find out exactly what sound card you have (sounds like its built into your motherboard) and then install the drivers for it. Your device manager is clearly telling you that you have driver issues ... so you need to resolve that before you can expect Windows to properly handle extra devices such as a microphone.

Usually Windows is pretty good about emulating simple sound functions without any drivers installed at all. But you'll still need the most up to date ... complete ... driver installation to get your mic working.

Do you know the model of your motherboard? If you don't have the manual (which would tell you) then you can turn off your computer and look inside and see what the model number is, then go on the internet and look it up.

In either case, if you find out what your motherboard is, you'll find out exactly what hardware is built into it and then you can look up drivers for it.

Don't give up just because you're frustrated. That's weak.

Another vote for it being incompatible issues with the sound driver. If your computer is so 'pro' then you need to get yourself up to date equipment.

Vista works fine for me, and this thread is about a lack of sound card driver, not Vista not working properly.

I did say something legitimate, you need proper hardware to work with Vista.

You cant just boot up Vista, plug in many years worth of accessories and expect them to work. It sounds like you have had that mic for a while, and so like Killer said, You would probably be better off getting another one, rather than trying to make the one you have work. Its too bad, but computers are frusterating sometimes, I understand completely.

Or you can take it to a shop, they are quite good at making things (like headsets or sound card drivers) work. Course.. it might cost more than a new headset would, but thats up to you bud. Its a lot easier to service when you are actually there trying different things.

And No, I dont know how bad your old computer might have been, and you never talked about that before in this thread, so that means nothing to me. Titles such as "My Mic isnt working with a new computer" would be a whole lot better.

You've posted in a TsuGaming forum asking for help with your computer, and when he offers you appropriate advice you not only flame him, you call him a dickhead and tell him to shut his mouth. I'm not even Spazerman and I found that extremely offensive. I don't know if you were having a bad day or something, but he was only trying to help and I think you owe him an apology. His advice was accurate and he calmly presented it to you (and even calmly responded after you unjustly flamed him for it)

Suggestion: Remove the USB microphone and see if the missing device driver disappears from the device manager. If it does then the device without drivers is the microphone, otherwise it's either the USB hub on the motherboard or the sound drivers.

Quite honestly, I don't care what your argument was. Spazer is a founding member of this community, a very fair and respectable person, and a full/permanent member of my Council. If you disagree with him you could at least give him the common courtesy not to say things like calling him a dickhead or "shut your mouth". He was only trying to help.

I really fail to see why he is annoyed with me. I didnt say anything against him, and I was backing up someone else's opinion that there was a problem with a sound card driver/card, or a lack of one.
On a forum, people post so that you can get many different opinion, not just from one person... thats what forums are all about...

There are lots of cheap sound cards on the market that would most likely help your situation. I can help you find a few if you are interested in buying one?

well vista isnt that bad really but i dont have it

but the mac is sto;; the best comp ever lol for the top of the line mac would be a lil bit under $24,000

Sorry for the off topic, but I just have to

1. The top of the line mac, is NOT anywhere near 24 large

2. Even if it was, who in this world, would spend OVER 10 grande on a computer?
