The layout won't be changing. So avatars will stay on the left. The majority of people prefer them there, anyway. I know you don't ... but we can't keep everyone happy.
The colors will change a little but not too much. A lot of the gold coloring will be replaced with various blues. And then the buttons (like 'Reply') and the banner will be fixed, too.
