Those bugs are already in the list. The info block bug isn't in there, but it's related to the other two you mentioned, so I'm not going to put it in there. Thanks for the mentions, though.

I wonder if thats to do with the fact that we have about 20 or so 'spam' messages from guests awaiting approval all advertising viagra or something of the sort. Ive given up deleteing them... need to enable CAPTCHA or disable guest posting all together :/

I have disabled guests to post on mine, and it workes nicely for those who register, sence they don't get affected.

I recomend that you remove the permission for guests to post.

I don't think that would really stop it, there were two spam posts today and both were by registered members.

well the spam bots that are registered members might be due to the fact that we have like 300+ inactive accounts

I know the reasoning behind not deleting inactive accounts in the past but at this time any account that hasnt made a post in the last year or 2 should probably be deleted

but honestly that is up to fl00d3d

I didn't post for a long time, and I'd be pretty upset if my post count and avatar and shiz had all been lost =(.

This isn't a bug. This is caused by what Nightma12 said (below).

Yes, this is why it is still showing there is new posts. Captcha IS enabled (and its the new 3D captcha, too) -- but I think antispam technologies are finally getting so good that humans take the time to register, THEN automate using the credentials. Which is why you see so many guests spams and very few registered spams. Right now, guest posting is "On Moderation Queue" -- which means it must be approved before being posted for all to see.

The spam bots really have no correlation to the inactive registered accounts. Some spammers do register, but I'm usually pretty quick to catch them. Usually I issue a temp ban (1 month) to the entire netblock the spammer posted from. I don't want to perma ban the entire block because usually that bans innocent people, too. In some cases (like Chinese or Russian netblocks), I do issue a perma ban on an entire IP block. The spammer's account is then deleted.

I don't want to go through and delete every account that isn't active. This is for many reasons. The main reason is because their account is also associated with an email address which I can use to get in touch with them if needed. Another big reason is because of people like Medici who have gone inactive really to no fault of their own but rather because the community was rather dead - or the busyness of their life caught up with them. In these cases (especially if they've been a staff member in the past or have donated), I will keep their account. I *have*, however, done MAJOR cleanups in the past. We used to have almost 1400+ registered members (for those of you that remember). And they were all legit for the most part. Many were duplicates. And some were barely (or never) used. I basically came up with a list of criteria that I felt was important (such as "never posted and the account is over 2 years old" ....or.... "posted once and the account is 5yrs old") and then deleted based on that.

I hope these answers answer your questions and address the bug concern.

With regard to the other bugs still listed in the first post: I haven't had time to work on them. But hopefully sometime soon I will.
