Tips On Running A Healthy Computer

Many people ask me how to make my computer run faster and stuff, and well, I tell them to use good programs and stuff.
This is what I do.
1) Run a registry cleaning tool called "RegScrub XP" -- I have been running this for ages, its on Majorgeeks.com or in google. -- REGULARLY
2) I run Ad-Aware -- REGULARLY
3) I run CCLeaner -- REGULARLY
4) I run AVG Free and it schedules automatic virus scans everyday for me, and I just let it run throughout my session.
5) If you feel you have allot of stuff running, go to "Start -- Run -- msconfig" and click on the "startup" tab, deselect all of them, and restart, it basically takes away the unnecessary startup items you don't need!
I also run Ad-Aware Pro's "Ad-Watch" to block of ad-ware and spyware in the background.
Oh, and be sure to de-frag your hard drives atleast once every week, I do it twice a week in safe mode
If you have any questions, reply in this thread.
Thanks for reading, enjoy

I just did everything in the tutorial and restarted, and this is the results, ultra low ram usage (its really 151mb used not what you see, because of CCLeaner running..)

Install WIndows on a seperate partition, and defrag both sections regularly.
Great thread Idea! A+

Using the defragger that comes with winblows is practically useless fyi, it doesn't allow extending your Master File Table (so that files won't randomly disappear), nor does it have an option to set up automatic defragging so that you can have it do it while you sleep or while you're away.
Not to mention, winblows defragger has a wonderful tendency to shorten hard drive life, Diskeeper is the full version of winblows defragger and actually increases hard drive life from what I've seen (only defrags what needs to be defragged, also has optional directory consolidation, then there's the boot-time defragger it includes).
Also, Spazer: I agree with you to a degree, but I only keep backups on a separate compressed partition, don't like having to alter path associations or anything. 8)
A good thread idea nonetheless, not something I would've immediately thought of myself.

Thanks for the comments guys.
What is Disk-Keeper? Is it a seperate program to download or what?
:EDIT: I just looked on google and this is the site "http://www.diskeeper.com/defrag.asp" they have a 30 day full-function file, I suggest everyone tries it. Im about to try it, if I like it, I may buy it or crack it, and share it here.

If you crack it, you most definitely will not be sharing it here. We do not allow warez.
