Intel or AMD

This is a big debate. Which really is the bigger and better computer processor brand?
Ive been using Intel my whole life, ever since I was 3 (11 years ago was when I first got my first pc

I still have it sitting next to me, with my 2nd dead pc, LOL!) but yeah, I reformated a pc for my uncle, which had 256mb ram, a AMD Anthlon XP 2000+, and surprisingly, his renegade ran so much better, without a gfx card then mine (atleast in single player, he had dailup, we never tested multiplayer) it was so much smoother, etc.
And one time, I had a 2x AMD Opteron 246 server, 4gb ram, and I managed to get a fds to 600sfps with 40 people in it, 400kbps avg, and it obviously was smooth as f*ck..
I don't know guys, im an intel fan, but every time I see an AMD, it makes me more impressed in the performance of the chips they make, in gaming, and servers. Now, remember, the 2 processors I tried, are low-performance chips compared to the new ones they made recently, and they still ran great. So yeah, what are your opinions and tell me your history of the chips you used. Why you would recommend it, etc. (Don't forget to include your current processor!)
I have a Intel Pentium D 960 (3.6Ghz running stock) and 4MB L2 Cache, 32+32L1 Cache, and when I ran 3DMark06, on the CPU tests, I literally always had 0 Frames, always! It maybe jumped to 1, but thats it.
P.S. Thanks 4 reading my essay, LOL!

I'm definitely an AMD fan. I bought Spazer's Intel off of him (what I use now) because it was a bargain ... but I am totally pro-AMD. AMD has always had better math-coprocessors which is why they do better with gaming (much more math in gaming/video processing).
The top line Intel -vs- AMD ............... Intel might have a slight advantage right now. But AMD64's came out first (if I remember correctly) and were totally killer.
This will be a good debate topic, I just ask that people make it clear what is "fact" and what is "opinion". So make sure you do your research and don't just speak out of your *ss!

Like I said, my CPU was expensive, cost me $500 off Newegg, and it has a problem with my motherboard, everytime I restart, I have to press F2 to continue because it detected a microcode error. So I don't know if my computer's performance is limited by that or something else? I know the next time I buy something, it will be a new motherboard and AMD processor.
Hearing fl00d3d saying hes a AMD fan, just makes me more confident that Intel should go suck some egg.

I love my new AMD - the 6000+ 3.0GHz Dual-Core.. only cost me 180 dollars and it runs amazingly

Yeah, I read some articles on how close it is to the quality of the E6700. If you overclock the AMD proc, I think you would have a killer computer, but I think some of the tom's hardware articles is basically, well, false. I mean, I read so many comments on the processor from newegg, my buds told me, etc. that there is no way you can slow this processor down (the one your talking about) so I don't know. I know they released a 6400+ X2 processor so I might get that in a few months.. I need to save up for it. o.0

I dont really know the difference.. But I've had Intel all my life. When I look into getting a new CPU, ill look and compare the specs n sh*t

AMD was almost pushed out of the market share because of Intel.. I read it in the paper.
And my E6600 Flies... never slows down 8O
and Intel Overclocks better than AMD... generally much better.

It wasn't always like that.. Intel started using AMD's tactics, but like I said, my old AMD Opteron 246 server outperformed my Intel Xeon 3060 server.

AMD 6000+ X2 > god
I've had both intel and amd.... (although the amd is in a performance rig and the intels were in generic desktops) and in my experience, intels have seemed to bog down ALOT easier than amd...
plus, they were looking for the 64bit processor long before intel...and i like visionaries

"bog down" -> to back up or slow down considerably.
At least, I believe that was essentially what raul was saying based on the context. =]
Oh, and AMD procs ftw for PCs.

yeah that's pretty much what i was saying.... in other words "i've never been able to outrun the AMD, but it was easy to give an intel more than it could handle"

Can someone find out, which one is the best in almost and/or every aspect of these proeccesors? (Like overall performance, who did the best?)

I might be getting one of these soon, maybe not for a while, but im getting sick of my current processor, everyone said it was so fast, etc. and for $500, im not satisfied.. of course, its the pentium d 960..

Update & Bump:
I went on Tom's Hardware to compare the E6850 to the X2 6000+, the E6850 ownt it nicely.. But it sucks because they won't update the charts with the X2 6400+, and at the moment, the quad core series is on top (Intel of course)
