Ranks have been updated

After some consideration, I've decided to simplify the ranking structure and share with everyone how it works. Perhaps it will help motivate some, while un-confusing others. :-P

Oh, also - if you're a founding member (one of the original RTE turned TSU, or one of the first 25 or so active members of Tsunami Alliance) then you are eligible for "Original Member" status. If you don't have it, apply in this thread and I'll change it for you.

I'm not going to restrict it to a date, but if you want to get a rough idea of what I'm talking about you can use "anyone before May 2005".

Alright, after working with some statistics today - I've figured out a more appropriate time range.

If you have a registration date between March 1st, 2006 -to- December 31st, 2006, and have at least 25 posts, then I consider you a candidate for founding member. Since I've been psychotically active in my community since day one ..... I remember which names were from the founding members and which of those in the list are just imported from the the AOhost database (which are not eligible).

Here is a list of the top 15 people who I feel are eligible. If you disagree or would like to ask for reconsideration, do so in this thread.

Original Members (council members are excluded from this list):
cyclops
voxom
farnagain
darkcloud
clabuska
florent
wyld1usa
blazinx420
rrkiller
corbin
brian
gunner666
jd123123
tritium
cronambs

If you're on this list and want your status, let me know.

If you're not on this list, but feel you should be (or should be giving 'Original Member' status) then let me know in this thread.

Old Farts is a special group of adults over 21. It's basically a group which allows you to post in the Old Farts forum which is reserved for mature-only discussions.

I hate your decision there fl00d, and this is why. People always say "21" is the considered adult hood begging age, to me, thats bullshit. Mature people are people who behave well, and not like a noob child, a 21 year old may have the maturity of a idiot, 5 year old, etc. but they are still 21, would they be considered an adult? Yes, but not in the sense of how well they behave and how mature they really are..

Im not saying I should be in there or not, im just saying, "Old Farts" should be renamed to "Mature People" and the legit "age" to be in there will be reduced allot or just remove it..

Otherwise, the direction that forum is heading (no noobs, children, etc.) is well though up of.

To be honest the age limit was recently raised. There are probably a few people on the access list that are under 21, but older than 18 (18 was the old minimum age).

I understand that some 18+ (21+ now) adults are immature.

I understand that some 18- (21-) kids are more mature than those adults.

But there are two important things to consider:
  1. Maturity is a consideration. So if someone is 40 years old and abuses their 'Mature Adults' group membership, they'll be removed.
  2. The forum was created for truely adult things such as "bars" or "getting married" or "having kids" etc. I don't know too many people under 18 (21 now) that have much experience with those sorts of things. So even if they were mature, they couldn't really contribute to the discussions.
I wanted to make a forum that is 100% protected from immature tangents. The best way to do that is to lock it down to a respectable age group and say "no immature tangents or you're removed from the group". And that is exactly what I have done.

But still, lets say I would be a considerable "adult" in allot of people's views. (I doubt that now since I have a bad rep, but im working on it, and some people like / love / hate me more now xD) but yes, lets say I am 14 (which I am) and allot of people thought I would be mature? Would I get accepted if I applied? And will the same story happen for if I turn 16 or 18? Or is the bottom line = 21 or over to get in?

21 years is the baseline. Mainly because maturity is more than just values and understanding ... its also about experience. And most "mature 16 year olds" don't have the experience in life that could contribute to this sort of forum.
