i need help with my calculus, integrals to be exact im trying to do the f*cking box counting method but i keep getting 2X wat the answer should be, like 40 instead of 20 for example, and wen i do the (b-a)/n thing it works but the f*cking box counting doesnt wtfbbq if anyone can help me it would b great, im sure if we have a calc genius in here i'll b consulting u a lot in the future lol

what in the hell are you talking about "box counting"? i'm on my second year of calculus (meaning calc 2, not "failed calc 1") and i've never heard of that... have you gotten to the fundamental theorem yet?

I 'm pre-calc, but the only box counting ive heard of is with cube counters

integrating has nothing to do with boxes at all, unless you happen to be talking about Riemann Sums?

This thread makes me want to throw up all over my protractor. I HATE HATE HATE HATE math.
So much so....I couldn't get through algebra I. I got a "C." I managed a "B" in Geo and I have no idea how I did that. f*ck YOU, Pythagoras!

This is a HELP forum.
kthx

sooo... did you figure out that integral issue?
Assuming you're just starting integrals or you're still on the limit of Riemann sums definition, it gets better, there's this elegant little thing called the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus which makes the integral like a 15 second job (5 if you're me) and it's almost impossible to mess up the area beneath a curve with the FTC method

yes, had to multiply by the x and y bc the x went up by 2 and not one LOL, but anyway, im on limits now n i dont need help on that but keep this thread open so i can ask in the future! (got 47/50 on my first test hehe)

usually you cover limits before derivatives, which are before integrals

we covered limits again, did it last year in pre calc, n now we learned derivatives, that sh*t is a b*tch
we had to find a derivative of a function raised to the fourth power.... thank god for pascals triangle =p

derivatives are a joke... it's called the power rule and pretty much the easiest thing you'll ever learn

i just started dem so i dont know how easy or hard they are but i can say this much when you start doing problems dat are being raised to the fourth, fifth or sixth power they get tedious. if it wernt for pascals triangle i wud probably shoot myself seeing something raised to the fifth power
but ya even the problem that was raised to the fourth power was easy, just a lot of useless writing that makes it gay

are you still using the limit definition of the derivative? (with delta-x and stuff?)
because that method is ridiculously tedious and a total waste of time until you get the power rule....
but back on topic, does anybody legitimately need help with math/calculus?
