This topic is ONLY for discussions about the banlist itself and our ban policies. It is NOT where you request a ban or ask to be unbanned.

General Ban/Punishment Policies

• If a player violates a rule he/she will be given a !warn
• You are allowed 3 warnings
• After your 3rd warning (on the 4th warning), you will be automatically 'temp ban'd' (one wek ban)
• Temp bans are the same as a !kick (1 full week)
• Players that are repeatedly team hampering or interfering with mod activities (such as a cheat test) will be !gkick'd (kicked for a # of games, usually 1)
• We only permanently ban for repeat offenders and cheating.
• If you were permanently banned for anything other than cheating, you may appeal your ban and it will be overturned eventually.

Mod-Vote Ban Policy
Due to the fact that RenGuard is practically useless right now at doing its job, and due to the fact that it is possible to get some cheats around BIATCH, the admins have agreed to implement a new "Mod-vote" ban policy.

HERE IS HOW IT WORKS
Overview:

1. Numerous players suspect another player of cheating, but have no proof (or not enough for automatic permanent ban)
2. A player creates a topic accusing this player. If a lot of complaints are made in the thread, then an admin will create a poll in the moderator forums.
3. Once the poll is complete, the results will be posted into the original topic created by the player.

The voting process:

• Once an ADMIN has created the topic, moderators may vote with their opinion on the matter. Mods cannot create [BAN] topics/polls.
• Moderators will vote and present all evidence/opinions to back their vote. If you cannot make an educated vote, please do not vote at all.
• If the accused is a moderator they will have their forum access revoked so they can't vote for themselves.
• If more than 50% of the mods (whether 1 of 2, or 99 of 100) feel the accused is a cheater ... regardless of the final outcome ... the moderator will be permanently removed from the modlist.
• A minimum of 10 votes will be required to determine a judgement. It is at the discretion of the admin to reverse the decision if more moderators vote after the 10th and it changes the results. However, once 10 votes have been entered, that will be considered the judgement day.
• If 80% of the moderators (8 of 10) agree that the player is a cheater, they will be found guilty. Any less = innocent.

Punishment:

• If the cheat the player is accused of is an 'offensive' cheat such as: Bighead, Rate of Fire, Damage Hack, Spectate Mode, Aimbot, etc. then the punishment shall be: WithProof=Permanent; ByVote=Ladder reset + Banned until new working anticheats come out.
• If the cheat the player is accused of is an 'enhancement' cheat such as: radar hack, using RGH to hide skins/bright skins, etc. then the punishment shall be: WithProof=Permanent; ByVote=Ladder reset + Banned for one month.
• The admin who creates the topic will list the charges (ie. what cheat they're being accused of - if more than one, then more than one topic/charge should be opened).

We hope that this democratic and judicial process of handing cheating will provide fair resolution to growing number of accusations.

Forum Shun
Effective immediately, anyone who has been proven 100% to be a cheater (either by nonrefutable proof or admission) ... and who uses these forums (has at least 1 post under a registered account) will be shunned in the form of a custom rank graphic entitled "CHEATER" with a subtitle "I've been caught cheating!". If you are aware of someone who deserves this treatment, send a forum admin a private message explaining why they should be labeled a cheater and be sure to include a reference to the topic/proof.

These ban lists are automatically updated at the end of each game.

This has in fact been an NR feature for a long time now, but its been disabled up untill now.

I'm finding the following entry rather disturbing:

I checked IPs, and they all matched up to the actual Sloth that I've been in clans with and who is a part of the NE Clan/development team of ren2007. NE does NOT tolerate cheating .. and they ARE a wonderful group of people ... which is why this is extremely disturbing to me. Because by the logs it looks like there is a non-refutable entry against him. And that's .. well .. disturbing. :-S

i've never perm banned anyone? well sh*t...

I spoke with Fobby about this last night and he said that Sloth was probably drunk and messing around. In either case, I haven't known him to cheat - but NR wouldn't mess up so the ban stays. Moving on.
