Hey. me and my father are re-building our computer. we ordered a processor online ( Intel Xeon Quad Core E5345 2.33Ghz Processor CPU Socket 771 ) and we are now looking for a motherboard to support it. The mother boards he have been looking into Nvidia 780i and 790i. The question i have is if the motherboard supports LGA 775 socket will it be compatable with my processor LGA 771. if not could some one suggest a good motherboard to support my chip.

First off: The Xeon processors are designed for servers. So if you are looking to use this computer for gaming or normal daily tasks: Sell it and get a C2D (Core 2 duo).
Second, No those motherboards will not support it. Both are Socket LGA775, not socket 771
Here is a lovely list of possible motherboards. Because they seem to be designed more for servers, they tend to be... expensive.

Hope that helps!

Well for that money, you could easily get something far better for gaming... but that's up to you.
Keep in mind that not a whole lot of games support quad core right now, so half the processor will essentially be useless. Not a lot of games even support Dual Core
There also could be issues with Drivers... Compatability problems... anything could happen, and if there is, good luck getting support for it. If a motherboard isnt very widely used, then (generally) the less help there is. If its a home-build, then that should be a big consideration.
Just trying to save you some grief down the road!
