Does anyone know what format dvds need to be in, in order to burn them onto a cd? Ive never burned a dvd before so im kinda lost. It wont work now because its .avi or something. Im downloading a video converter but I still dont know what Im doing.

Hmmm... I don't really know much about codecs, TsuCursed knows a lot about pirating, so he probably knows more about burning dvds.

get a program called Roxio Media Suite, its got all the tools u need. but u cant just burn a .avi onto a dvd by copy and paste, all that would do is make a data cd. im not exactly sure what format it actually is but you will need some sort of burning software thats for sure.

I use ConverXtoDVD, works like a charm. Also allows you to set menu background, font, text, etc.
Only thing you can't really do with it is make the more complex menus that many companies release. ;)

I started to get a dvd converter to change it from avi to dvd format. After I do that it should be alright to burn?

I have dvd burning sh*t on the laptop cause the one he had gotten is a media type for movies and tv and sh*t so i wont have a problem.

well all the dvd burning sh*t ive used didnt require you to convert it then burn, it would make a temporary image and burn that to the blank without taking up room. the thing i like about roxio tho is that it has a 'fit to disc' setting thatll let u keep the best resolution on your movie without wasting space on the dvd
