ever meet. I put this Qst in front of a lot of people and no one can show me. I know the answer but
need to see the math formula how to do it. :wacko:

584.55 * .05 = 29.23
Is that what you were asking? I didn't really understand the question. ~_~

wrong

584.55 includes the 5% tax if you take 5 % off the total you get 29.23 = 555.32
now add 5 % to 555.32 and you get 583.09.

The correct way is to devide 584.55 by 1.05 = 556.7143
now take 556.7143 and add 5% (27.836) and you get back to 584.55

584.55 / 1.05 = 556.7143
584.55 - 556.7143 = 27.836

so the tax he paid is 27.836 which is too much so he should complain to his local government official.

Try not to triple post in the future.

x = income t = tax percentage converted to decimal form. Make sure you use the parenthesis.
y = x - x / (t + 1)

I don't follow you ? "dont triple post in future"....Like you mean if I make a post, just read the comment
and don't add lib unless asked to?
So for example..this very post is considered a quad post now? :wacko:

A triple post, double post, quad post, whatever, is when someone makes 2, 3, 4 posts in a row, with nothing in between. Let's get back on topic though, don't even reply to this.

divide by 105 then multiply by 5 = 5% of the total before tax...
