SOME FORUM CHANGES

In response to THIS topic, the forums have undergone some semi-drastic changes (mostly organizational) and some policy and structure changes are soon to follow.

This post is to let you know what was changed:
  1. "PC Games Chat" and "Console Games Chat" forums were merged INTO "The Hangout". Since this is a gaming community, we felt that the Hangout shouldn't be restricted exclusively to non-game topics. It also gives better exposure to game discussions to help expansion. It also cleans up a couple of forums, making the forums more organized and concise.
  2. The categories have been renamed, reorganized, and re-ordered. We feel the changes will better promote fresh game-related discussions rather than repetitious off-topic discussions.
  3. Each category can now be expanded or collapsed (saving space) on the main forums page by click in the Show/Hide link to the left of the category name. Soon this feature will be expanded so that you can set preferences, so that every time you load up the forums each category will be shown or hidden based on your preferences (and you'll still be able to change that at any time). This gives the forums a more organized feel and less intimidating.
  4. Permissions and moderator groups are going to have a major overhaul/update. We have created three new forum moderator groups called 'Tier1 Mods', Tier2 Mods', and 'Tier3 Mods'. Tier 1 is obviously highest (of the 3). Rather than having individuals assigned as moderators for forums, applications will be made for each group and then flat permissions will be set based on the group. This should make more forum moderators available as well as make it easier to figure out who has mod where. The appointment of individuals to these groups will be done soon.
There is still quite a bit of work left to do, but since the site was down much longer than I had planned, I figured I'd put it back online and let you guys start posting again while I continue to work. A special thanks to Danpaul for the coding changes.

After my Boston-vs-Orioles baseball game and dinner, I will continue working on the website. :)

The show/hide option doesn't work for the Renegade sub-forums.

I think it was only designed/intended for the main page of the forums. I'll have to talk to Danpaul about any bugs.

already told u over msn, but the interest meters werent showing in the game reviews section, also the show/hide wasnt working there either

I'm guessing functionality for the Show/Hide is broken for all categories except those shown on the main/front page of the forums. Which is what it was intended for. I'll have Danpaul take a look at that tomorrow.

As for the Interest Meters not displaying, I will take a look at the permissions now.
