Major Server Changes (to all 3 servers)

Rather than make a bunch of little posts about everything that I did tonight (and into the early morning hours -_-), I figured it would be easier on me ... and you ... to post everything into a single topic.

Here is what has been changed (or will soon be changed):

TSUGAMING.COM :: CLASSIC AOW
  • Max players decreased to 20 (usually only fills to about that anyway)
  • Time limit increased to 45 minutes.
  • Mine limit lowered to 30 (from 50)
  • Vehicle limit lowered to 8 per team (from 40, wtf lol?)
  • Resurrection Mod *coming soon*
Summary: The goal with these changes is to make the tank wars more intense. There is a chance in full games that a vehicle limit could affect gameplay (stolen vehicles, forced infantry, etc). and the battles will last longer per map.

TSUGAMING.COM :: INFANTRY
  • This server is now running on a00000005 (CCTF was moved to 0e: see below)
  • This is a new server. I completely scrapped the "Mixed Mode" server and rebuilt this one to be an agressive infantry-only server with no goofy modifications.
  • Max players = 30
  • Time limit = 30 minutes
  • Mine limit = 50
  • Drop weapons are ON
  • Pedestal is ON
  • SSGM crates are enabled (see below for percentages)

Summary: The idea with this server is to obviously have an infantry intensive server. Starting with 350 credits you'll be able to get a tech and start mining (or go on the offensive) right away. Drop weapons make things interesting/agressive, and the SSGM crates aren't obnoxious. It should be a great server.

TSUGAMING.COM :: CRAZY CTF
  • This server is now running on a0000000e (still on first page of XWIS listings)
  • Max players decreased to 30 (from 50)
  • Starting credits increased to 500 (from 350) so you can get sniper right away.
  • Removed shotgunner (rocket guy) *coming soon*
  • Removed laser chain gun weapon from Stealth Black Hand *coming soon*
  • Resurrection Mod *coming soon*
Summary: The big change here is the XWIS nick. But since the nick is still on the first page of XWIS and we have a loyal group of regulars, this shouldn't affect our server at all. As far as settings changes, the credits won't affect too much other than cause some earlier fights, but when the shotgunner and sbh changes take place (soon) that will definitely balance the game more.

All of these changes were carefully made with a LOT of forethought and consideration. Each server's changes was based off research, experience, and consideration for eachother (ie. making sure we don't make one of our servers more popular at the expense of making another server less popular).

It is my hope that by next weekend anything I haven't been able to finish (and any tweaking that needs to take place) will be completed.

sounds great to me. but one question. why the server name change for cctf? i don't mind it being changed but just curious.

So that Infantry is higher up and we can get a bigger player base that way.
1: We should rename the AoW server to Clanwar Style :) I think it's nearly identical correct?
2: What will will be replaced for the shotgun rocket guy in CCTF?
3: Will the SBH get a normal Laser Rifle?

And does this mean that the flying rocket guy will stay? That one's worse than the shotgunner. Or if you dont remove it, make it cost 1500 like a sbh because its so easy to use.

I'm guessing you're talking about the HOSTNAME change? Cuz the server name didn't change. It's still called TsuGaming.com :: Crazy CTF. The hostname was changed because it already has a loyal following and they won't mind going a few nicknames lower to find the server. This infantry server needs as much advertisement as possible.

1) I'd prefer to keep the server names how they are. It's not a clanwar server (though it is clanwar-style) and I dont want to confuse anyone.
2) Don't know yet.
3) Yes, the SBH will stay exactly how it is, minus the lcg weapon.

That's an excellent point. I kept saying "shotgunner" but I was actually thinking of that flying one. Hmmm. I may keep the shotgunner one, then, since at least he's grounded and easier to kill --- and just replace the flying one.

Ok. i always thought the flying guy was whored with more anyways so im glad to have him gone. but i think if you leave the shotgunner with an agt rocket you should make it cost money. even if its just 150. just my opinion

i also suggest making sure the credit speed is 4 or more per second

as well as making the engineers ob gun more powerful (300 hp worth of damage instead of 150) and the splash ever so slightly larger. After all the ob does do 300 hp worth of damage, if i remember correctly.

If you don't want a standard infantry unit that power full then i suggest you make a character that does have a weapon that power full and put it as one of the characters you can purchase.

you do have a spot to fill after all (shotgunner)... and this was one of the most popular choices in old school cctf.

i think we should also have the char jump a little higher too. It would make sniping a little more of a challenge and it would allow people to jump over the stupid baracades(ingnor my spelling) like in city flying and the bar's.

AOW should have a rule implemented. No sniping all damn game. Should qualify as team henderance. Small games especially. 4 vs 4 or 5 vs 5 and 3 people in tunnels nsiping on nod, vs. 5 tanks in field. makes for some really crappy games.

no. no. no. a million no's. all it does is make the server way more laggy, take the sniper element out of it, and push people into using automatic weapons.

For replacing the shotgunner you can consider creating any character with grenade launcher &/or flamethrower since none of this 2 weapons is used ingame. But this is only a suggestion. You can have better ideas.

I agree. The flying rocket noob should go :pilot:

Whatever replaces the airborn rocket guy is not going to be anything spectacular.

And we won't be re-adding the super-jump.

I was going to quit playing online games all together cuz to many people say theres some thing wrong with me,
"how could you at your age be playing games like a little kid..grow up and act like a adult"..ya but it makes me happy and some of them people say I'm there friend " oh shut and do what men your age do"
