My nVidia 9600gt can play Supreme Commander and Crysis on high graphics without lag. Struggles a bit with Ultra graphics though, but still more than playable in my opinion. Dunno how much they are these days, I got mine not long after they were released...

I have a GTX 260, and if you get the Maxcore/core216 version you can overclock it a tad and easily reach gtx280 speeds.

All for what, 200 bucks? Try looking on newegg. Just ensure you have a 550watt PSU.

I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8600m GT for my laptop and I have 60 FPS 98% of the time in game. My internet connection is what makes me lag but yeah, I haven't had any problems with my FPS since i got my laptop.

dual gtx285 in quad sli is the only way to go unless you are richer then me and get the gtx295s instead.

Seriously though the gtx260 is the best card for the least amount of money. The cheapest gtx260 has been benchmarked @ P23,916 with the 3dmark vantage program. My dual gtx285 in quad sli tested at P28061. Goes to show that you pay exponentially more for only small increases.

There is also a more affordable GTS 250 card out but no benchmarks on it yet. It is $129.99 on Newegg.com.

Again, ensure you have a PCI Express slot and a decent PSU or it will be a waste of money. It would also help to know what Kind of processor you have?

With my GTX 260 (I have the BFG maxcore edition) I can essentially max Crysis at 1920x1200 without the AA... not that you really need AA at that resolution. Any other game It maxes with no effort.

I have a Quad core though, it would be different if you have a slow processor. Again, please post your system specs :)

If you have vista, click start and under Search, type msinfo32, and run the program that shows up. That should bring you to a screen that will show you relevent information.

Same with XP, except you will need to run a command prompt, and then type in msinfo32.exe

Question: What does a sound card do? I've never really seen the point of one. Other than the fact I can't use a mic.

A sound card generally gives better quality sound. But unless you are really into the gaming or listen to lossless music, its next to useless.

Im not sure if you have a PCI-E slot open in there, I think that video cards onboard. You will have to get me the motherboard number or maybe the computer tag/type?

You have enough horsepower in there to run it and make it worth it, though.
