leave feedback or die.
1. make the view active topics button more accessible/visible. aka put it higher up on the index. being new to this site would be very complicated without that button. I still resort to it 90% of the time.
2. the who is online at the bottom. make it work on any part of the forum? I'm pretty sure if you scroll down right now, the box will be there but no info will be displayed.

I use it 100% of the time... my bookmark for the forums goes straight to that page, I never look at the forum index. Moving it higher up is on the todo list I believe.

It's does different things on different pages. On the forum index it shows who is online, in forums and topics it shows who else is browsing the same forum / topic as you are. That's the standard phpBB3 behaviour, we have not modified it at all.

1. cool, good news.
2. is there a way to change what it says under those circumstances? an ez fix? Like Users browsing this topic and Users browsing this forum? Because Who is Online is misleading if that's the case.

I never use the active topics button, I look through the forum index for sections that have the yellow check mark showing there's a new post. But the option should be there, I agree.
Who is Online: has a statement clarifying what its showing you. If danpaul starts hacking up the script to fix such an insignificant issue I'm betting there will be downtime, and will most likely result in it being put back the way it was.

1-->Active topics isn't always the best way to surf the forums. There is a setting in the admin panel as to whether or not you want that forum (or category) to be a part of the 'Active Topics' system and many forums are intentionally NOT a member of active topics (mainly for security/permissions reasons). Though I have been more mindful of this in the last year or so.
2-->Eventually we aim to have the 'portal' functionality of the front page (http://www.tsugaming.com) available on all pages of the site. I appreciate the suggestion, though - hopefully the new changes will address this issue.

Plus we're about to change the default behavior so that a majority of the categories are expanded by default (with the ability to sticky them as 'collapsed').

Just coming back to this a minute, you may or may not have noticed that the navigation menu was updated a few weeks back. The forums block underneath the navigation block has been removed and its links have been brought into a new Forums category within the navigation block. This means the link is available on all pages with the sidebar now instead of just the forum index and that it is higher up the page.
