Moderator Level Restructure

Heya,

First off, im going to make some major changes with the way moderators and admins are handled.

Currently there are 5 levels of moderators:

Administrator
Co-Admin
Full Mod
Half Mod
Basic Mod
Temp Mod (this isnt used at all as far as im concerned, but its setup in NR as a mod level)

The new structure that I am implementing will be as follows:

Administrator
Dep. Administrator
Senior Moderator
Full Moderator
Provisional Moderator
Backup Moderator

First off, the final plan is to have a single Administrator (me) and 2 Dep. Administrators, however as there is only one person i feel is up to the job (after looking though the mod application forums) there will be only one, with a job vacency available to the first person who both me and the dep. admin feels is capable of taking on the role. - I still need to talk to this person however to ensure they are happy taking on the extra responsibilities so i will be doing that soon :)

Generally, Dep. Administrators will have no less access than I do, and are capable of changing game rules, removing bans, proposing new servers, approving new mods etc. So essentially if i was to say, 'disappear' for a few days (no i dont have any plans for this lol) - the servers should continue as normal. Ovbiously if you have a problem with a dep. you take it though to me, but 99% of server decisions are going to handled democratically between me, and the deps. (a poll will be started, with dicussions etc in the admin forums)

Senior Mods will contain the 'most trusted' and senior people. I am expecting to have about 2-3 people on this. Essentially they have full power over ALL of the moderators on the server, and while they cant demote people from mod powers with prior permission from a dep or admin, all mods below are answerable to them and only Senier mods can overrule decisions by mods below them. It is also these guys job to ensure that provisional moderators can moderate well and know how to mod properly, and its their job to pick out who is worthy of being promoted to moderator. Senior mods are allowed to 'pick and chose' who becomes a backup moderator at will, this will have to be dicussed between them all, but they dont need prior admin consent before adding somebody to this list. They will be given a command to add/remove people from this list. While this command can ALSO allow them to add people to moderator/provisional, they will be disaplined if they are found to be abuseing this function of the command. This rule may change in the future, but for now ALL senior moderators need to have prior permission before adding new moderators/provisional moderators.

full Moderators will contain the bulk of the mods on the servers, and both moderator and provisional moderators answer to the senior moderators, it would be nice if moderators could help the provisional mods in learning how to mod, but you certainly wont lose your status for not doing so.

Provisional Moderators, think of these guys as 'Learning moderators' they may not be able to do the full moderating job, may not be trusted, or just not have enough experience. These people however have been selected and approved by admins and will be promoted to Moderator once the Senior moderator feels you are experienced enough to do so. Good moderator judgement will be needed to prove you are capable of promotion.

Backup Moderators, Senior mods (or admins if they like) pick and chose these at will, and as a general rule, it will be very relaxed as to who is allowed to become a backup moderator. An admin can override a decision however. Backup moderators are exactly that, 'backup' mods for when no other moderators are around. As soon as a provisional or full moderator joins the game and logs in, it will log out all backup moderators from their position and it will not allow them to login again untill all higher level moderators have left, or ahve logged out.

For this very reason, I would like to ask ALL moderators to please logout (page the game host with !logout) if you are going to be idle, or afk in the server so that the backup moderators can do their job.

Backup moderators do not have to be the most expiernenced people, or frequent the game alot. They are the people that would normally be !op'd if there was no moderators ingame. As you can probably guess, the commands they can access will be severely limited (most likely it will just be qkick).

If a backup moderator abuses their position, they will have their access revolked, and added to the deop list. This means that they can NEVER gain mod access on the servers, not even if an admin was to try to !op them. The request would be denied.

Ive got a party to go to in about an hour, (college leavers party) so i will be back later tonight :D - Im going to go though the command list tonight, or tommorrow morning. And draft up what command each level of moderator will have access to. After that i will go though the mod app forum and reassign people to their new moderator level :)

To all you moderators:

Everyone who was accepted as a mod was given half moderator. We will be starting you all out as the new "provisional moderator" and from there, we will see who knows how to mod, and who we can trust. From there we will look at promoting some people. Good luck guys xD
