Scheduled Network Maintenance

During the next 24 hours, we expect somewhat regular downtime and intermittent connectivity to core network services such as the webserver, teamspeak server, and other related services.

We're currently completing the final stages of an ESX infrastructure which will allow us to self-virtualize and self-host all of our resources once again. The disadvantage to this migration is the fact that all 3rd party hosting (which is everything at the current time) will need to be completely shut down and backed up before we can migrate them into our own hosting platform.

What does this mean for you?

Friday night - Saturday morning (GMT) = The current teamspeak will go offline. We hope to have our new teamspeak up before this. If we can get the new teamspeak up before the old one goes offline, you will need to check the forums for the new IP address. We will update our DNS records to reflect ts.tsugaming.com as the new server IP but this may take some time for your DNS to update properly. Therefore you will need to enter the new IP for the first few days.

Friday night - Saturday night (GMT) = During this time, the website will go offline. Because of the migration method, it will be near impossible to maintain at least one site as active during the migration. So please remember all of this information (and share it with your friends) in case people are wondering what is going on. We will also update our Facebook wall (searchable as "Tsunami Gaming Network" on Facebook.com).

After the migration is complete and all transitions have been made, a few new programs will launch. Those details will come at that time.

Until then, please be patient with our progress.

If you have any question, feel free to ask on our Facebook Wall.

UPDATE

The schedule has been pushed back by approximately 24 hours.

The only thing that will be a little different is the Teamspeak situation. With our TS3 server order cancelling today (Sunday), there is a very good chance that it will be shut down and offline for the day (or a good portion of the day). As stated earlier, come back to the forums for the new Teamspeak IP.

To clarify: the Teamspeak server IS shut down right now. We should have our new operating system available to install Teamspeak on within the next few hours. As soon as I get Teamspeak up and running (realistically, it will be closer to this afternoon/evening) I will get you the IP. Sorry for the outage, but SoftLayer messed up our IPs and it wasn't a simple "please fix" scenario.

Tomorrow sometime (Monday). WHM is installed (and thus the linux hosting system). I just haven't set it all up yet and I have class early in the morning.

Website is going to be backed up and migrated now. DNS has finished propogating and the server is ready for hosting.

I apologize for the spotty outages, but this is a necessary evil.

As you can see, the website is back online. If you can see this post (and reply) then you're on the new webserver and good to go.

If you have a friend who said they can't log into the forums because they're locked, then their DNS is still pointing them to the old webserver. There isn't much I can do about that. You can recommend they open a command prompt and type in the following:

Code: Select all

ipconfig /flushdns
Usually DNS takes about 6-12 hours to update. But sometimes it can take up to a day or even two. Just gotta be patient.

As for teamspeak: I'm working on that right now. There is a bug in CPGS that is holding us up. I'm trying to get the teamspeak server setup through CPGS rather than manually so that permissions are easier to manage down the road. But the Cpanel module is bugging out on me, so I'm working on resolving that issue. The new Teamspeak IP will end up being 173.193.83.36 (ts.tsugaming.com will also be redirected to this new IP). It will be running on the default port.

ts.tsugaming.com (173.193.83.36)

Default port (which is 9987) - so you don't need to put a port in if you don't want to.

More formal announcements and configs coming soon.

My DNS at work has still not updated, so I came up with another solution. Set your DNS server to 8.8.4.4 (Google DNS) and it picks up the correct IP address. Short term fix for anyone else having problems.

EDIT;

Ironically Firefox seems to have managed to cache DNS results seperatly to Windows itself and STILL goes to the old IP address even when pinging from the command line and using Internet Explorer manage to go to the right place. Restarting Firefox doesn't seem to clear this stupid cache of a cache crap it's got going on...

Update

The IP address I had posted for the Teamspeak was wrong. Apparently I copied and paste the wrong IP and didn't notice. I've been very sick and tired the last 24 hours or so, so it makes sense to me that I would do something like that. Nonetheless, the actual Teamspeak IP is ts.tsugaming.com (which is 173.193.83.36).
