Honestly: If you trust yourself with opening your computer, just unhook the computer, open it up, remove the screws holding that specific drive in place (usually 2 on either side of the drive bay) & remove it through the front. Hooking up a new drive is just the reverse of the removal instructions.

Otherwise: take it to a shop and pay someone to do that for you. :?

But yes, your drive is sorta... screwed.

Drive prices vary depending on where you get them, and the drive itself. Really, they're not all that expensive unless you get a really fast CD-/DVD-RW drive (between $30 & $60 USD, sometimes up to 2x that price - I haven't bought a CDD for years, so I can't tell you the exact pricing).
The only actual wires you have to connect are the EIDE (ribbon cable) and the molex (4-pin power interface). There is the option to connect a CD audio cable, but those are useless these days IMO.

Top drive on that list is a SATA, bottom *should* be EIDE, so you'd want to go for the bottom 1.

And no, it's not hard to connect the 4-pin molex... just make sure you DON'T force it in if it won't go in (could short-circuit your machine if you do) - if for some reason it won't go in easily: first try flipping the plug, otherwise just lightly grab the wires @ the back of the connector so that all of the holes align with the pins on the drive. ;)

technically your "driver" was not "fooked" but your DRIVE was

DRIVER != DRIVE (!= means not equal to)

one is software, the other is hardware and firmware

I think he may have known that, but might have been typing on a QWERTY keyboard and hit e & r at the same time - I know a few people who do that.

Of course, welsh, had you actually meant "driver" instead of "drive" - then raul is 100% correct about what he said. ;)

But np. 8)
