Post by hilary4u »

Ok i need help with my net connection,
you see well my internet was 256/56k per sec but i updated it like 2 months ago, and now its surposed to be running at 1500/256 k but my net wont dl anything over the speed of 32kb per sec '256'. I know its a shitty connection but australia is just touching on broadband due to the pm is a complete fool, anyways if you have any advise on how to get my connection to the speed it should be would be good.

:/ what is the maximum speed available for the area that you live in? no matter what speed you have it can't go faster than the 'grid' or whatever you call it...

I know I was paying more for a connection I wasn't getting for quite a while...

This problem can have allot of "factors" that goes into it.

IE:

- Central office is really far away
- Your wires are rusty and old
- Your neighborhood (or shared network) is being shared so much, its getting overloaded to give you such low speeds.

I have a 17/1 Mbps Cable connection here. But it has reached speeds of 21Mbps download and 1.3Mbps upload, which means my connection is barely shared.. lol

My advice is, call up your ISP, ask for a line check.

Or calling support.

I thinks he was just looking for generic tips, though.

I definately think you should call up your ISP. It sounds like they havent switched you over to the faster connection yet.
It would be too much of a coincidence that its still running at your old speed, sounds like the wires and everything are fine.
