So... My current monitor is crap, it turns yellowish and I must hit it repeatedly until it changes back to normal. I was going to buy a new monitor, but decided to buy a laptop instead because of college... here's my choices:

And
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6834117588
I narrow my search down to the following:
Price: $1000 - $1500 > Screen Size: 15'' - 17" > CPU duel core 2.0 or better > Ram 2 GB > Graphic Card 512mb or better > Hard drive 100GB or better > Then of course wireless Internet...etc.
If anyone can find a better priced laptop... I would be oh so greatful.

Re: Help buying a new laptop
Asus and Vaio laptops are generally pretty good choices. Another brand you might like to look into is Acer, they also have some very good laptops.

You don't need a cooler for a laptop, they operate just fine without them. The only reason I would see for purchasing those is if you work in a particularly hot location, or you find you start to have cooling problems with the laptop.

I have an acer and its pretty sweet. runs all the source games ,etc don't expect it to run crysis or anything like that well. but it does fair pretty well.... My sis has an asus that is pretty kick *ss too and it has a better graphics card than mine. and a HDMI output which is pretty rare on laptops. anyways basically depends what you want it for i guess? like even on board graphics will run rene
but u know basic stuff like dual core 1 gig of ram. 100gb hard drive. and a geforce GO x, they are pretty good.
