Re: Computer
Upgrading the video card would be a good way to improve performance in newer games, I am planning a similar upgrade sometime from my 7600gt to something in the 8x series, either an 8600 or an 8800 if they come down in price when the 9 series come out.
As for 2 500gb hard drives... maybe a little overkill? I have 480gb between two hard drives at the moment (320gb sata and 160gb IDE) and I have plenty of space left over even with my entire mp3 collection and music video collection on them, plus quite a few gb of windows backups, so I think you might be overestimating your requirements.
My advice would be to get a single 500gb drive and if you somehow manage to get to the point where you need more storage, buy another drive at that point, because chances are larger drivers will have become cheaper again and you might be able to add a 1tb drive for about the same price as you might pay now for a 500gb drive.

Re: Computer
7600GS 512MB <--
Is that card.. even capable of using all of that memory? I have my doubts...
Why not spring for a 7800 256 meg? Or even from the 7900 series, with less memory. Guaranteed to floor your card right there.
(story) I bought a fx5200 back in the day.. with 256 megs of memory. I was phyced and thought my card was super, until I found out the fx5200 can only utilize around ~64 megs before the processor backs up..
Just reccomending thats all. Is it for Gaming? (guessing it is)

Re: Computer
seriously rather than two 500gig drives get one 750g 7200rpm for storage and then a 160g 10,000rpm for your system and higher end apps
