She doesnt know much about buying computers, let alone building them... I think it is safe to say that she probably will want a prebuilt one. Besides, for that money, you could buy pretty much anything...
http://alienware.com/ --- Customize your own state of the art laptop? I clicked on the main picture and upgraded most "parts" (not accessories) to the top with the exception of the 300$ solid state drive, and it came to around $3000 U.S.

Basically, there are countless combinations of parts you could use. Since I assume you arent building it, then do you want some prebuilt systems instead?

Try to get a good graphics card and 2gb of ram, that will allow you to play all the new games. Having a fast processor helps too.

If you are spending $4500 on a comp but get a 7600GT, your retarded. Simple as that. Sorry if it offends anyone, just deal with it.
If you build it yourself you save soooo much more money, see if anyone around you knows how or make friends with the local nerd at BestBuy. I've virtually-built computers on AlienWare and MakeYourPC or something like that, and then found all of the parts on NewEgg. You save $500-$1,000 when you or someone you know builds it :/
There are many new games out. Are you talking like Crysis High Graphics? Call of Duty 4? PoTBS?
Probably the best card out now you could get is the Nvidea 8800GTX.

you cannot run 4 g ram on win xp so change to vista 64 bit and you will be fine.
Only thing I can't do is run gamespy on vista but wol works fine.
