Re: Broke it
If the stick you removed was from slot 0 you will have to move one of the remaining health sticks into slot 0 or it will think you have no RAM installed and just give up booting. It should also beep like a maniac at you normally, but not all POST's behave the same.
Re: Broke it
Well the slot that it was in...it right agist t ehheatsink and it pushes the stick into another one so there is no space >_> but ill try it =D
Re: Broke it

Re: Broke it
your computer should still start up without any ram in it.
check your bios settings then try to start in safe mode.

Re: Broke it
Most motherboards won't boot into bios without RAM because its used for video I/O (ie. so you can see something on the monitor).STEREODOG wrote:your computer should still start up without any ram in it.

How many beeps? And how fast. VERY important.
like,
"beepbeep ........ beep. beep. beep."

Re: Broke it
you don't need ram to see the bios screen, there is usually 256k internal memory - can you press the delete key repeatedly when starting to get to the bios screen? When in bios check the first sceen to see if it recognizes the hard drive.
If the hard drive failed this may be why your computer goes no farther.
And yes I build and repair computers.

Re: Broke it
Are you sure you removed the right stick? Perhaps the one you took out was infact the working one

Re: Broke it
you try with no ram installed to get into bios? If still no joy - do you have another power suppy to try?
Did you add a nything new to your computer recently - vid card?
If all else fails try removing (including power connections) all cd and harddrives, ram and anything else other then vid. card connected to motherboard - you need to be able to get to bios. Lastly remove processor and try to get to bios.
The whole point is to narrow it down to a small list of components it isn't that is stopping your computer from running.
If you removed one stick of ram then tried the other one and still have that beep you may have lost the power supply 3v rail - my bet is on the power supply.

Re: Broke it
Of course the less obvious and hardest to test culprit would be the memory controller on the motherboard itself being damaged....
