Firefox downloads

Post by fl00d3d »

OK, this little thing is starting to irritate me. I don't know what I changed, but its annoying.

Whenever I download files, I used to have it set so that it'd show the little progress window box ... and then when it completes, that box disappears. And then the little bottom-right box shows that the file has completed (and the file name has a link, so you can click it and open what you've just downloaded). And that last part is the part that's broken.

Now, it does all of that -- except for at the very end, it shows that bottom right hand corner part, but not as a link. So I can't click on it to open the file I just opened. I have to go to the file location through Explorer and manually open it.

Annoying as hell.

Any clues how to fix this? It's gotta be a simple setting somewhere. Thanks.

I'd rather use a browser that is more secure and compliant with industry standards. :)

Well I don't know how to fix the problem, but I know of an addon you might like instead. The download statusbar shows the progress of downloads in the statusbar, and once they are done you can double click on them to open them, or right click and choose to view the folder they are in.

I installed that. I'll see how it works out. Thanks.

(still curious what's wrong with the setting though - works under different Windows accounts, so its definitely some sort of profile customization option or something)

You could look in about:config (type that into address bar and hit enter) and look for bold settings, as those are the ones which are not set to default values. However I had a look and couldn't find anything which seemed to refer to your issue, although its possible an additional option has been added that is not normally present, but is valid.
