Re: Hiding IP and erasing a game
Completely removing a game can be done as follows;
1) Use normal uninstaller
2) Delete the folder it was installed to (EG: For Renegade you would delete C:\Westwood\Renegade). Backup any addon stuff like maps etc first if you need to.
3) Go to start -> run (if Run is not shown go to start menu properties and turn it on, you can always disable it later) and type in regedit and then hit enter.
4) Go to HKLM\Software\<developer>\<game> and delete this entire registry tree. This path is dependant on the developer and game, and may not be as above, use ctrl+f to locate it if you have to. Also be aware that the uninstaller *should* have done this for you, so don't worry if you can't find it, although some uninstallers are badly designed and wont remove it all. Be very careful with this step, if you mess up and delete something you shouldn't have it could cause all sorts of problems. Close regedit now.
5) Navigate to your program data folder (C:\ProgramData\ in Vista) and delete any folders for the game, although most games do not use this folder so dont worry if you cant find anything to delete.
6) Navigate to your user profile program data store (C:\Users\<username>\AppData in Vista) and again look around for folders related to the game and delete them. As before, there might not be anything here, but it's a good idea to check.
Good luck.
