NR Slave Server

Just wondering, how would i run NR with a slave server?

Are you asking how to set up a slave server for Renegade? Cuz I don't think anything is different for hooking up NR to a slave server.

Or are you asking how to link NightRegulators together so that they share banlists, recs, modlists, etc. with one NR as the master and the other NR as the slave?

Because NR reads the server.ini file to connect to the FDS, and you can't tell it to read the slave server section. BRenBot on the other hand, DOES work with slave servers, because you manually tell it which port to use for the FDS UDP traffic, so you can set it to use a slave server's port.

What the f*ck does that have to do with ANYTHING? Anything at all PsuFan? It has 0% relevance to this because I never once claimed I knew VB better than him.

He could have EASILY wrote his INI parser to accommodate slave servers. If he can parse a part of a file, then he can parse the entire thing. It may not be as easy as that, but there are so many things wrong with NR it's not even funny.

So rather than instigate an argument with someone who was factually correct, just keep your comments to yourself.

TBH, I am not surprised NR does not support slave servers, since actually running an FDS that way is generally not done. It's more efficient usually to simply run multiple copies of the FDS, which would work with NR, hence supporting slave servers is a bit pointless. BRenBot only supports it because of the way it gets the FDS connection settings, it was not an actual design decision.

After working 10 hour days, I usually don't care to come home to jokes. And the reason I'm always knocking on NR is because the creator of it is a member of this community and he can't even seem to keep it working properly on on our own servers. So, yeah, I do have a problem with that...

Well maybe he has things of his own to do? Maybe he works, has homework, or things to study. NR or any other programming project isnt a top priority for people that have a life. I do slightly agree, though my NR worked pretty good, NR isnt the most stable thing out there.

Accually BR does not work on slave servers.

Sure you can read from the ini file - but theres no renlog file for it......
