My Renegade is broken =/

Hey guys. So I have Windows Vista 32 bit home edition. My dad installed the SP1 update, and now renegade won't work. I would just get an error saying, Renegade has stopped working, Windows will now close program blah blah blah. I read around somewhere that installing Resurrection might help solve this? So I downloaded Resurrection, and extracted it into the Renegade folder. When I tried clicking on the shortcut on my desktop it gave me this error. Any help please? Am I going to have to reinstall windows if i want to fix this or what?

how unrecommended is it if i uninstall sp1?

wow lol, thanks for that. I'm glad it was an easy fix.
Although... when I start it says v 1.037. I went to multiplay and I'm downloading the patch again? Is that resurrection related? lol i'll let you know what happens anyway but w/e o.O

Grr... So I tried to patch it up, but it finished and then had an error saying it was already patched, so I went ingame and still had to patch it. So I uninstalled, and have just reinstalled it. I'm getting the same error.
I'm running vista, so should Xp Sp2 be the thing I should have checked off?

anyways, i think i'm going to go download resurrection again and see if that helps

grrr...... I downloaded 1.037 from a website, so its patched up. Tried running it then it failed. Then I installed scripst 3.4.4 and tried, it still got the error. Then I tried installing Resurrection, and got that error in the picture. But before, i was getting Windows found an error. Closing down program blah blah blah....

im not going to f*ck around with the complexities of getting sh*t to work on vista but make sure you get that first patch straight from xwis and a all the other patches from the best sources without all the extra bullshit you dont need.

Make sure when you run the patch that it runs in admin mode or it can't update the registry setting that marks the current version, so Renegade think's its not patched, when in actual fact it IS patched, so WOL components will refuse to let you connect.

I told yu..Vista is the worst operating system ever made..even the zillion air that made it wishes he didn't, put Xp back on .

You realise Bill Gates was not really that involved with the development of Vista, right? Even then he was mostly a corporate figurehead and was no longer really involved with the actual development of Microsoft products.

Ok, I don't know if I'm blond or what.
So I just uninstalled renegade. When I installed it, I made sure to run it as an administrator. So now renegade is installed. Then I tried to run the game, and the compatibility was checked, and I got the error, "Renegade has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." After this, I went to http://www.cnc-source.com/forums/index. ... howfile=72 and downloaded the 1.037 patch. After it finished, I extracted and put it on the desktop. I right clicked and ran as an administrator. After it finished, I still have this problem, and the compatibility is checked. What shall I do now? I could try downloading scripts 3.4.4. I don't know what it would do, but I had them on last time and I got renegade to load up. Or I could try installing Renegade Resurrection again? Any thoughts?
Taking Vista off if out of the question, and I'm not going to take off SP1 because then I screw a bunch of stuff up with the network I'm connected to or something.
