so im trying to remove java so i can reinstall it (its acting weird) and i got most of it uninstalled via the control panel but i cant uninstall the Java 6 update 24 (i get an error 1723 DLL needed to run the installer can run blah blah blah) this keeps it from uninstalling but also keeps me from reinstalling it. so is there anyway i can fix this?

Manually remove the files and clean up the registry, or re-install java fresh.

Have you tried running the installer (fresh download) for whatever you're trying to remove? It might detect the existing installation, in which case it would give you an option to Repair or Remove.

Any restore points? I know the JRE is a pretty core component these days. If you removed something improperly (or in the wrong order) you might have jacked it up pretty bad. So a restore point might be best.

Keep pressing F8 when you turn on the system, and one of the options should be Restore my computer or something of the sort. Than it will ask you waht you wish to do next, there should be another option and choose System restore.

F8 is booting into SafeMode. I was talking about doing a Windows Restore from within the Windows GUI/desktop.

Glad to hear its working!
